I've tried to load these pics up in some sort of order, but apologies if they are bit confusing. Please modify if I've got any bits wrong.
We had 5 games in total during the day.
To summarise
The BaneSword, Odins Fire, on its route up to Hill 66 ran over some unexploded munitions in a crater and its tracks were disabled. The Warsmith Strom got a bit annoyed and executed a bunch of his guys before knuckling down to repair the damaged tracks. The Chaos forces were just finishing its repairs when a passing squadren of Vulture gun ships spotted the convoy and strafed it, doing little actual damage to the vehicle itself, but slaughtering the crew who were outside finishing the repairs.
The following conflicts played out the various elements of the battle raging around the stricken behomoth.
Skirmish One
The first major conflict of the battle was between chaos forces led by Warsmith Strom and the combined might of two marine chapters over the stricken banesword(blade?? lol like I know). 1500pts on each side.
Skirmish Two
The second was fought out on the eastern flank between the long lamented pink marine chapter and a mercenary force of Dark Eldar (The Comedy of Despair, I believe) again 1500pts per side.
Skirmish Three
The third fight was fought on the western flank in a fairly one sided skirmish between Warboss Aghwayman's mercenary warband and a small force of The Emperors Custodes *cough*greyknights*cough*
Skirmish Four
The fourth conflict was fought just up from the beach line between The Imperial Guard and Herr Flikks elite traitor regiment (correct me if I'm wrong) It started a touch late however due to the guard commander deciding he needed a lie in before making his push.
The Final Battle
Our final battle of the day was a massive bloodbath fought over the now possessed Banesword between the combined forces of three imperial space marine chapters and General Stroms mish mash of traitor marines, Dark Eldar and Ork Mercenaries
All in all it was a fun day... although I can safetly say I never want to stand up that long again in my life!
Oh yeah... and its bloody well Area Terrain.... ok!!
